The Coldest Heart

I've been wearing a properly massive amount of black in recent history, as I seem to do from time to time. But as it gets more and more chilly with each passing day here, I expect that the black clothing is an early indication of what to expect from me throughout the winter months. While I quite obviously go really eccentrically bohemian with my taste in the summertime, but for me it just feels like poor taste to do so in the winter unless, of course, you're Rachel Zoe and possess gigantic and warm vintage Dior furs and the like.
With no histrionics or exaggeration I can firmly state that I loathe winter with a fiery passion in my heart. But at the same time I see no reason why it should result in anyone dressing really infinitely poorly. Of course there will be the occasional day of taking no heed of form and instead focusing entirely on the function of not freezing to death or getting slush in your socks - one would have to be insane to not take such things into consideration...which, come to think of it, means I have seen a veritable ton of insane people in this city.
Nonetheless, a slip on the sidewalk ice here or there is a small price to pay to not look like the Michelin Man (seriously, what is up with those ridiculous floor-length puffer coats that people wear?! Can they really even be that warm?!)
Okay, I've officially gone off on a tangent, and as such I'm certain that those of my readers who live in wonderful perpetual sunny and warm places have no idea what I'm on about...and for that I sorely envy them. And, since there's no use in getting preemptively upset about the inevitable, I suppose I should just enjoy light-jacket-and-boots weather while we still have it.
So on another note, in regards to the recent nail polish inquiries I've received: it's called Just Groovy, made by O.P.I., and I'm seriously considering making it my signature colour. It's weirdly awesome because it's obviously quite distinctive, but at the same time seems to match and/or clash in an interesting way with most everything I own.

Wearing
Jacket: Urban Planet (it's an addiction, and it needs to stop - the salespeople may currently be under the impression that I'm stalking them with how much I go in there)
T-shirt: Uniqlo
Leggings: Aritzia
Boots: Urban Planet
Backpack: vintage

  5. The first photo of you sitting on the stoop, so cool. :) And of course, I love those boots too!!

Thanks for your comment. Sigh, I'm tired. I spent all morning taking more things over to the new place. Man am I tired. And I still have over 50% left to go (and that's only my stuff) oh well. I still have a week and a half left to do it all in. I'm more stressed than excited though, I hate change. But once I get used to the new place and get settled in, I'm sure I'll calm down a bit.

Thanks for keeping me cheeery with those comments! :)

  6. Oh, don't be envious of us who live in the sun all year round! You get to cuddle up in cozy clothes and drink hot chocolate, where as i, i only get to do that on a rare occasion! Call me naive, but consider yourself blessed ")

  9. in defense of the floor-length puffer:
when i lived in chicago i bought one that is SO over-the-top it does indeed come back around to awesome. it's diesel and is almost theatrical in it's bell-shaped silhouette. i got compliments on it from strangers all the time and when i moved down south i had various friends offer to buy it from me for a handsome sum but instead i've stored it because i know i'd never find another one!

oh, and your hair is looking especially lust-worthy. jealous!

  11. I feel the same about winter. I end up wearing black constantly, and often wear the same thing over and over purely so I don't freeze. Luckily winter's just over here!

P.S. How do you take your photos? They're always gorgeous!

  17. But black looks good on you! It provides the perfect contrast to your hair, makes you look animesque even. Some would describe the look "ethereal" but the edginess of the outfit makes you look less of an apparition and more of an imaginary character that could have walked right out of the television! What bags do you use to go with those outfits? I do my shopping here, and I find good stuff but I certainly wish they carry YOUR little black jacket and YOUR shirt!

  19. Loving your constant updates! And I agree with you -I totally agree with you - I always go toward boho-chic in spring & summer, but ditch that in winter in favor of more architectural and chic looks. And I also hate winter with a passion!
