Windy winter weather and wide-legged jeans

vintage leather bag, vintage shoes, vintage poet blouse, pirate blouse, J Brand wide leg jeans, Aritzia parka, Aritzia JacketI've concluded that the high-waisted and wide-legged J Brands I purchased during my weekend spending binge are the most perfect pair of pants in the world, and moreover they're seriously making me re-consider my bias towards dresses and tights in the colder months. Could this be a first in the realm of trousers for me? Only time will tell...

It was definitely one of the coolest events that blogging has brought me to thus far, and I thoroughly enjoyed conversing in 'real-time' with Anthea, Ashleigh, Danielle and Marta. I very much hope to have similar events set up in the future to continue the informative and interesting discussions we had!

Nonetheless, I'm going to pull myself up by my figurative boot straps (as I'm not actually wearing boots right now) and get on with what should be a properly productive day. Plus I'm pretty pleased that I get to wear all of my furry little parkas and long-sleeved 1960's blouses again, which cheers me up enough to get out the door and do what needs to be done.

We got our backs to the wall...

G has come down with the stomach flu and as such taking good photographs was naturally lowest on the priority list yesterday evening, hence the worse-than-usual quality of the ones in today's post. We'll hopefully be back to form tomorrow, provided G is feeling better.
In lieu of this situation, I was pretty much left to my own devices last night which somehow resulted in me cleaning our apartment top to bottom into the wee hours of the morning (and consequently ruining the ruffled shirt as pictured in today's photos with Vim). Can anyone relate to this once-every-3-months obsessive-compulsive-cleaning tendency? I'm on a huge living space organization kick at the moment, which is fortunately assisting me in my goal of not spending all of my money on clothing all of the time; I am instead preoccupied with kitchen gadgets and baskets and shelves and so on and so forth.
Moreover, I've decided that the Closet Re-Organization '08 which I've been planning for a little while now is going to be fully documented and blogged about because really, isn't a beautiful place to put one's clothes almost as important as a beautiful way of putting such clothes together? Well, perhaps not, but I am also self-aware enough to recognize that I work well under pressure and that the added impetus of blogging will inspire me to do the job better and faster than I would otherwise.

Blouse: a very Bride-of-Dracula 100% silk piece I found for 0.50 cents while thrifting a couple of months ago, now ruined by my own Vim-happy ways.
Vest: F21
Trousers: They're Club Monaco, and much more flattering than these photos give them credit for.
Shoes: vintage and SO wonderfully 90's...they'll definitely be worn more often in the coming months.

Killing the Light

I haven't noticed until just right now, but this is the third consecutive post of me in an entirely monochromatic, black and white colour scheme. Truth be told, black is without a shade of a doubt my favourite colour (and yes, all of you literalists out there, I know that it is not technically a colour, hence my attempted witticism with 'shade')...

I find it funny and more than a little tiny bit ironic that yesterday's outfit has a kind of 'damsel in distress' vibe to it, seeing as I came home from work wearing this and consequently managed to get stuck in an elevator, alone, for a good thirty minutes until I called 911 with my meager cell phone reception and finally some really nice firefighters came and rescued me. Alright, alright, I know that this is by no means the scariest thing to ever happen to a person, but I sincerely felt as though my life was hanging in the balance. All day I had been looking forward to getting home, making myself a white wine spritzer and listening to the new Darker My Love record on the balcony - so really, it was no different than most days if I'm to be perfectly honest - but not only did I not get to come home to this pleasant contentedness, I had to get trapped in an elevator ALONE...the only rational explanation for this occurrence is that the universe tries to spite me when my life is going too awesomely well for its liking. Or that the elevator was simply faulty due to our irresponsible and sloth-like landlords.
On a separate note, the blouse I wore yesterday reminded me of how desperately I require a good, productive thrifting trip as soon as possible. I'm not yet at the point of feeling bored with my wardrobe, but I have an inkling to spruce things up a little bit, perhaps with some new accessories and outerwear and such. Furthermore, now that I own the article of clothing which I have wanted for 10+ years (the Burberry trench, obvi), it is time for the quest for the not quite as long-standing but almost equally significant obtainment of a [faux or vintage fur] Margot Tenenbaum coat. Oh, the tangled web of perpetual consumerism I weave.

Anita, Kate, Mick and...You?

This blouse is pretty much too cute to sell, but I'm doing it anyways! Auction ends tomorrow afternoon at 6:30 p.m. EST - bidding is still super-cheap, so hit it up before it's too late...
